EAST WINDSOR, CONNECTICUT


MINUTES OF JUNE 11, 2007



I.      TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING

The meeting began at 7:30 p.m. East Windsor Board of Education conference room.

II.     ATTENDANCE

        Present:  Chairman Ken Crouch, Peter Sanders, Cliff Nelson, Joseph Pellegrini and   Elzear Rodrigue.  Also present were Betsy Burns, Victor Giner and parents and Recording Secretary Slate

                ABSENT:  Ed Filipone, Skip Kement, Steve Pilch and Jim Thurz

IV.     PREVIOUS MINUTES

A.      Minutes of May 23, 2007

Upon motion by Mr. Nelson, seconded by Mr. Sanders, it was unanimously

VOTED:  To approve the minutes of May 23, 2007

V.      UNFINISHED BUSINESS

        A.      Volunteer Park

Mr. Victor Giner, an East Windsor Boy Scout, displayed a diagram of the butterfly garden with three (3) benches.  A discussion followed regarding the benches and the approximate cost.  Victor may try to organize a fundraiser to supplement the cost of replacing plants.  Mr. Jose Giner spoke to the public works department about anchoring the benches.  Victor is almost ready to start purchasing the materials to start the project.  Chairman Crouch explained the purchase order procedures.  Victor explained that the scouts from Troop 89 or the Garden Club might take care of replacing the annual plantings.  Chairman Crouch will process the purchase order to Mr. Jose Giner.  A discussion followed regarding leaving access for the mower to get around the benches.  Ms. Burns thanked the committee for approving the Eagle Scout project.  Chairman Crouch requested quotes for the plantings around the gazebo and sign.  Mr. Nelson discussed the installation of the pole for electricity to the park.  A purchase order will be cut for Mr. Nelson to take care of the light and power through ECI, in the amount of $1,600.  The pole will also include a meter and box with outlets.   Ms. Burns inquired about a grand opening ceremony when the project is complete.





B.      Salt Shed

Chairman Crouch reported that there is about $2,300 left to have the wood treated and the concrete sealed.

C.      Broad Brook Elementary School – Restroom Upgrades & Asbestos Abatement

Nothing new to report.

D.      East Windsor High School Boiler Replacement Project
Nothing new to report.
